Japan's Top Model Ebihara Yuri Quits Acting Career

Looks like Japanese top model Ebihara Yuri has thrown in the towel for her acting career. After having become one of Japan's most famous fashion and ad models, Ebihara tried her hand at acting but reviews of her performance were so bad that she announced the other day that she'd give up acting and get back to doing what she does best...modelling!

Ebihara Yuri, 27, is widely acknowledged in Japan as the personification of cuteness. She commands so much influence that the McDonald's Ebi Filet-O shrimp burger she advertises for McDonald's Japan gained big market shares in Japan, and clothes she sports in fashion magazines sell out instantly. Her posters with a kiwi fruit in her hands are seen everywhere in newspapers, magazines and huge billboards. But no matter how successful she is in the modelling industry, she couldn't win people's hearts when it comes to her TV performances. Her current TV drama Busu no Hitomi ni Koishiteru (also known as ブスの瞳に恋してる or Falling in love with Eyes of Ugly Girl) is greeted with lots of boos and jeers. Critics made harsh remarks that the model doesn't know how to act at all.

Luckily the cutie herself seems to know her own strong points and weaknesses. At a recent fan meeting in Tokyo, she publicly announced that she would never act again, instead, she would devote herself to her modelling career.
