Zhang Ziyi Becomes Hong Kong Resident
Famed Chinese mainland actress Zhang Ziyi
became a Hong Kong resident recently thanks to Hong Kong's "Quality Migrant Admission Scheme". Zhang is another case of a mainland talent being admitted by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) of China following pianists Lang Lang and Li Yundi.
Zhang Ziyi made a name for herself by acting in the film The Road Home (1999) by the world-renowned Chinese director Zhang Yimou. Her first Hollywood-produced film was Rush Hour 2 (2001), in which she co-starred with Jackie Chen in Hong Kong. And because she has cooperated with several Hong Kong stars such as Tony Leung Chiu Wai and Maggie Cheung Man Yuk and claimed the best actress title at the Hong Kong Film Awards in 2005, she considers Hong Kong her lucky place.
