In comparison Gong Li wears it better because she's younger and slimmer, but overall I think the dress doesn't flatter either one of them. The style of the dress is rather odd and is not very well suited for the red carpet.

i vote for Gong Li... She looks gorgeous in green... Joan Chen doesn't look like a star to me. I saw Lucy Liu in a green dress too and she looked febulous...

I go for Joan Chen tooooo!! cause she looks elegant. BUT Gong li looks ok too, dats if she din wear those long dangli earings.

p.s. by comparison, Gong Li wins but taken individually, neither is my ideal. I think it is true that all men can see authentic beauty and that is why Gong Li wins beauty polls when she doesn't try to look polished.

The comparison of the two actress, I would say Joan Chen. Why? Joan's dress is more elgant, while as for Gong Li's dress, too flashy. she looks to evil in most pictures!

Gong Li breaks all the rules but somehow even her toes are charming. She dresses like a Star Trek Original Series girlfriend and she still looks comfortable.
