Hikaru Utada Divorces Kazuaki Kiriya; Her Parents Divorce for 7th Time

Japanese pop diva Hikaru Utada (宇多田ヒカル) has divorced her director/photographer husband Kazuaki Kiriya, with the couple blaming their split on spending too much time apart abroad.

Utada, 24, and Kiriya, 38, carried their messages on her homepage about their divorce on Friday.

"As we've been changing, a perception gap between us in our future visions and what a married couple should be has widened," Utada said in her message. "We were seldom together and didn't communicate enough because we are both active internationally. This is one of the main reasons."

"Both of us constantly felt difficulties in creation as well as loneliness, but couldn't depend on each other," Kiriya said.

Utada married Kiriya in 2002 at the age of 19.

According to media, Hikaru Utada's parents have been divorcing for 7th time until now. Last year Hikaru Utada said when she was young she cried hearing her parents divorced. However, one month later, her mother said that they remarried again.
