Alan Tam

Alan Tam is a famous Hong Kong Cantopop singer and film actor. During the early 1980s he played a major role in developing the cantopop scene as he was famous for singing romantic ballads with modern arrangements. As of 2008, he is still active in the music industry, releasing new albums on a regular basis. Since the late 1980s, he has served as a mentor for the cantopop music industry, earning the nickname the "Principal" or "Principal Tam".

Alan Tam, former member of the beloved Hong Kong band Wynners, began a musical career overshadowed by fellow bandmate Kenny Bee. When he finally broke out as a solo artist, his fame skyrocketed, leaving bad history and bandmates behind. It's good he did. For 10 years, Alan has produced nothing but great records. His love songs have characterized '80s Cantopop. His croon transports us back in time. In the recording studio, Alan is nothing but a darling to our ears and hearts. What a legend he is. Tam was born in 1950 to renowned football player Tam Kong-pak who represented the Republic of China national team during the 1936 summer Olympics.
